20 Red Feather...You don't want to miss it!

If you are a first time home-buyer or just looking for a great low maintenance place to call home, you NEED to see this wonderful End Unit Townhouse in Cardinal Lake.  Let me paint you a picture...Long day at the office, your spouse makes you stop at the grocery store for milk, and all you want to do is relax.  Good news! You are almost home.  As you make your turn into the subdivision your body starts to relax as you see the well maintained single family homes that dot the subdivision.  Head towards the round-a-bout and look over your shoulder at the neatly tucked away townhouses nestled steps away from the community pool and friendly child play area. Pull up to your home and within minutes you are inside with your shoes off, milk in the fridge, and relaxing on your sofa in front of the fireplace. Rest a bit, then, take a walk and view the neighborhood lake, take a dip in the pool, or head outside to grill on your patio. Don't worry about the neighbors, your unit is well positioned to give you the privacy you need. Now tell your spouse you love them and revel in your choice of buying a wonderful townhouse to call Home. :-)  20 Red Feather Court, Durham, NC has just been listed and will be open Sunday, July 25th 2010 from 2-4pm.

Ahhhhh.....the NC Triangle

Ok so, indulge me while I share a bit of me with you.  I'm from a small town in upstate NY.  How small, you ask? There was 1 school.  And I attended that 1 school from the first big bus ride in Kindergarten until I graduated. I made many lifelong friends and have fond memories of that small town lifestyle.

Being young and naive, I thought I needed to escape the farm girl upbringing and hit the big city.  I spent time living in Atlanta and Los Angeles.  For anyone who has driven the Freeways of LA, you know that's about as big city as you can get. Ay Yay Yay...traffic.

Of course I wised up and chose the NC Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) as home and boy am I glad I did.  I get the best of both worlds.  For me, the size is perfect.  I might see someone I know at the grocery store, or I might find myself mingling with friendly strangers.  When it's time to get somewhere, the  traffic usually allows me to get there, stress and traffic jam free. And when it comes to finding things to do...the options are limitless.  Last week I attended a self-defense class in Cary at Butterfly Life.  It was a great class. This weekend there's jazz at North Hills, or a concert at the RBC center or maybe I'll wait to see some comedy.  Here's one source where you can find more things to do in the Triangle.  Get out and enjoy the heat this weekend.  If you don't already know it, the Triangle is a GREAT place to live.

Fireworks in Congress and in Durham, NC

The end of June brought much anticipation.  For some, the anticipation surrounded the closing of their home loans by June 30th so they would be eligible for the first time home-buyer tax credit.  Thankfully, Congress realized that it was impossible for many lenders to close that volume of loans and they approved a bill to extend the date by which those loans had to be closed.  This new bill only applies to those clients that were under contract by April 30th, 2010.  Many thanks to the clients I worked with toward their first time purchase.  It is truly rewarding to see your faces opening the door to your new home.

Now the rest of us were looking forward to the Independence Holiday.  The 4th of July has always been a big deal in the Reed household and this year didn't disappoint.  In addition to good food, good family and good fun, we had the pleasure of watching the fireworks which were held following the Durham Bulls game Sunday night.  The Durham Bulls is our hometown Baseball team and for those readers looking for more info, check out their website and go to a game. You WILL have FUN!

The fireworks were awesome and we all had a great time reflecting on our country, and what America means to us.  I've lived in Durham for years and I gotta tell you, when it comes to celebrations...Durham doesn't disappoint!!!

In Durham, NC People LIKE to say Hello!

Durham, NC is a very friendly place. I didn't know that when I relocated here several years ago.  At first, I thought, gee, I must be in the friendliest subdivision known to man, everyone is happy and waving at me when I drive by.  It was a little awkward waving at complete strangers. I can remember forcing a smile or two.  Hey, it wasn't personal. This whole waving at the world was a new concept. As I spend more time out and about as a real estate broker, I noticed that every neighborhood or subdivision I drove through...there were people walking and waving and just having a GREAT day!  Isn't that amazing. In 2010, working through an economic recovery, regular everyday folks in The Bull City are having a great time, smiling and waving at strangers. (And I confess, I've now graduated to a wave initiator, and :-)   to do it.)
